Update Instructions
Download and unzip the OverlayPro Imports to your machine. The desktop is usually the easiest place to download them and unzip them to because they are easy to find and easy to discard once you're finished.

Start by launching OverlayPro and choosing "Import Template..." from the File menu. A message will pop up regarding .bcd and .bmp files. Click "YES" to dismiss it (assuming you have not moved any files out of the unzipped folder). The next dialog box will appear and ask you to locate the file(s) you wish to import. Initially this dialog box opens and is "looking" in the Overlay directory. Click your mouse on the "look in" menu and navigate to the location of the unzipped the files on your machine.

If you have properly located the files to import, the display window will list all the files ending in ".bcd." For example, for part number 8248, you would see "8248.bcd" displayed. The necessary "8248.bmp" does not display in the window, but will get imported automatically in the next step. All files are listed by the Part Number which can be found in the bottom right corner of the Overlay.

Next you will use your mouse to highlight the file (in our example the file named 8248.bcd) you wish to import. With the file now highlighted, click on the "Open" button in the dialog box. DO NOT import a model into the software twice or import one that already exists. If you would like to add more than one, you will need to repeat this process for each model you wish to add.

Wait a few moments and a message will be displayed saying that your new phone model was imported. At this point you will want to test this new addition to your software, and if everything works, you can delete the .bmp and .bcd files that you downloaded. Because the new data is now in your OverlayPro program, the files you downloaded and temporarily stored on your computer are no longer needed and can be removed.

To access the download area, you must have a customer profile created. If you have already done this or have placed orders on this site in the past, you would use the same login and password and proceed to STEP TWO. If you have not created a profile in the past on this web site, please do so now by clicking the Create Account or Sign In link below. This is a one time process, and once completed, registered users will have unlimited access to the downloads simply by being signed in to their account.

STEP TWO
Request Access
If you've already completed this process in the past, you can go directly to Download OverlayPro. If you have never requested access in the past, click Software Download Request below. You must have an account created before requesting access (step one). This is a one-time process that will allow future access whenever needed. Access will be granted only to registered users of the OverlayPro software. You will receive an email from us when the account has been activated.

This will open a new window. Once you've completed and submitted the form, close the window to return to this page.

"No Default Printer Defined" error message
You need to install a newer version of OverlayPro. Visit the "OverlayPro Software" tab for download instructions.

Transferring a database to a newer version of OverlayPro
If you are upgrading your version of OverlayPro on the same computer on which it is currently installed, you'll need to do the following BEFORE installing the upgrade.

Copy the desgntr.mdb from the overlay directory and paste it to your desktop (or any other easy-to-find location EXCEPT the overlay directory).

If you are installing the new software on a machine that has an older version installed, you will be told during the installation that a database already exists. You will need to OVERWRITE this.

Open the newly installed program and choose Import Database from the File menu. Click the browse button (button with 3 little dots) and navigate to where you copied the desgntr.mdb. Select it and click OK; then click Import.

Arial Narrow Font Not Installed
Go to the control panel; locate and open the Fonts folder (sometimes found in Appearances and Themes). Open the folder. If you are running Win 95-98, there should be a fonts folder in the control panel.


Once the font folder is open:

-Choose Install New Font from the file menu.
-Double click on the C drive in the bottom left window.
-Double click on "Program Files." (If this does not appear, double click on the C drive again.)
-Double click on "Overlay."
-Double click on "Baudcom."
-Choose the font that appears in the top left and install it.

My overlay software prints perfectly to a plain sheet of paper, but stops printing when I use an Overlay. What's wrong?
The holes in the overlay paper sometimes trigger the "out of paper" sensor in your printer. This can be overcome by using the "large sticky notes" we offer. They stick to the back of your overlay temporarily while it is printing and cover the holes to allow the printer to complete its work. They are available at no charge when you order; our part number for this product is #8998. To get by, you can use a product from 3MŪ called Post-it NotesŪ.

My printer is printing "landscape" and not "portrait" (90 degrees off from what I was expecting the printing to look like). How do I adjust this?
OverlayPro prints to what is known as your "default" printer. The default printer is configured by going to your Start button and selecting Printers. From within Printers you will want to select the icon for the printer you are using, and then select its Properties. (Try using your right mouse and clicking on the printer icon, and then selecting Properties from the dropdown menu.) From within Properties, click the Paper tab. There will be the option to select either Portrait or Landscape as your default choice - select Portrait.
